LIVERMORE FALLS – Katy Nemi broke a scoreless tie in the second half and Katy Hall added an insurance goal to give Jay a 2-0 victory over Livermore Falls in MVC field hockey action.
Both goals rebounded off Andies netminder Caylee Morris’ pads following a scrum in front of the net.
Brenda Allen stopped eight shots to preserve the shutout for the Tigers (1-2).
Morris made 12 saves for the Andies (0-3).
Winthrop 10, Georges Valley 0
THOMASTON – Kelsey Ouellette scored three goals and Winthrop’s defense held Georges Valley without a shot in a 10-0 field hockey rout Friday.
Brianna Tupper chipped in with two goals and three assists. Also scoring goals were Malerie Dooling, Jessica Martin, Jill Ouellette, Lauren Dummich and Kenzie Hill.
Poland 4, Old Orchard Beach 2
POLAND – Senior forward Donna Roberts’ second goal of the game early in the second half broke a tie and propelled Poland to a 4-2 victory over Old Orchard Beach.
Roberts also opened the scoring with a first-half goal with an assist from Stephanie Baril. After a quick Old Orchard answer, Amanda Pilote added another Knights goal before Seagulls tied it going into the half.
Nicki Stacey would later added an insurance goal for the Knights (1-1). Netminder Dezaray DeBurra turned away eight shots.
Gray-New Gloucester 3, Wells 0
GRAY – The Patriots scored 27 seconds into the game and later added a pair of goals to blank Wells 3-0 in a Class B field hockey clash.
Senior Liz Hahnel punched in the opening score past Wells (2-1) keeper Hallie Woods to set the tone. Freshman Kellie Sanborn added another goal midway through the first half and Amanda Redmond later added a second-half insurance goal for the Patriots (1-1).
Junior stopper Bethany Haines turned away all six shots she faced.
Telstar 11, Dirigo 0
BETHEL – Seven different players hit the back of the net as Telstar blanked Dirigo 11-0 in an MVC field hockey tilt.
Josie Reiss and Whitney Mills each scored two goals and added a pair of assists. Bailey Davis and T.J. Cowen also scored twice for the Rebels (3-0). Chelsea Bean, Sam Largess, and Amber Morin rounded out the scoring for Telstar.
Junior goalie Brianna Douglas recorded the shutout.
Lisbon 3, Mountain Valley 2
LISBON – Senior forward Amanda Stevens recorded a hat trick to lead Lisbon to a 3-2 triumph over Mountain Valley in MVC field hockey action Friday.
With the game all knotted up at 2-2, Stevens drove the field and on a give-and-go, passed off to her sister MaKayla Stevens, before positioning herself near the cage. MaKayla then fed her sister, who placed it just inside the right pole of the net.
Stephanie Beadle made 13 saves for the Falcons (1-2), while Monica Larkin earned the win in net for the Greyhounds (2-1) with seven stops.
Girls’ soccer
Leavitt 2, Morse 1
TURNER – First-half goals by Erin Page and Kassara Varney paved the way for Leavitt’s first girls’ soccer win of the season, a 2-1 triumph over Morse.
Bri Hammond assisted on Page’s tally. Morse (1-2) cut the lead in half in the second half on Betsy Brooker’s goal.
Leavitt goalie Cat Rothe and Morse’s Jill Henrikson each made 12 saves.
Fryeburg 4, St. Dom’s 2
FRYEBURG – Coreen Hennessey scored three consecutive goals in the first half to lead Fryeburg to a 4-2 victory over St. Dom’s.
Jessica Chamberlain gave the Saints (1-2) the early lead on a feed from Sophie Goulet, but Hennessey scored the next three goals to give Fryeburg (2-1) the momentum.
Rochelle Ebert also scored for Fryeburg, while Emily St. Pierre added a goal for St. Dom’s with an assist by Allaina Murphy.
Gardiner 2, Oak Hill 1
GARDINER – Asia Smith notched the game-winning goal with 14 minutes remaining to lift Gardiner to a 2-1 triumph over Oak Hill in KVAC girls’ soccer action Friday.
Trailing 1-0 at the half, freshman forward Abby Goulet evened things up with her first career varsity goal for the Raiders (1-2).
Goalies Maggie Sabine of Gardiner and Kayla Marks for Oak Hill each were credited with three saves.
Edward Little 2, Cony 1
AUBURN – Katie St. Hilaire provided all the offense Edward Little would need in a 2-1 victory over Cony.
The junior striker scored both goals for the Red Eddies – the first on a throw-in from Hannah Kessler followed by an unassisted rocket to the upper left corner to seal the win. Chelsy Montminy was solid in net for the Red Eddies (2-1).
Tori Fowler tallied the lone goal for the Rams (2-1).
Georges Valley 4, Monmouth 0
THOMASTON – Desiree Smith scored a pair of first-half goals to help lift Georges Valley to a 4-0 triumph over Monmouth.
Goalie Ashley Geel made six saves for Georges Valley (3-0). Monmouth’s Katie Woodman stopped 18 shots for the Mustangs (1-1).
Oxford Hills 3, Lewiston 0
LEWISTON – Senior striker Kari Pelletier contributed a goal and two assists to guide Oxford Hills to a 3-0 victory over Lewiston.
Though the Blue Devils (0-3) struggled on offense, junior Katie Cobb made several superb saves in goal. She stopped a pair of breakaways and a penalty kick to keep the scoring respectable.
Emmy-Lou Blake and Lana Wheeler scored goals for the Vikings (1-2) in their first win of the season.
