HILLSBORO, N.H. (AP) -Two Massachusetts men being held on charges they burglarized town offices in two New Hampshire communities may have been involved in as many as 30 similar break-ins in two other states, police said.
David Heck, 32, of Westfield, Mass., and Justin Douglas, 26, of Springfield, Mass., were arrested around dawn Friday in Hillsboro. Police in Massachusetts and Connecticut also are investigating them.
Douglas was arrested as police checked a suspicious truck. Officers used a police dog to track down Heck, who ran off.
They are charged with burglarizing the town offices in Hillsboro and neighboring Windsor.
Hillsboro Police Capt. David Roarick said officers saw that the Hillsboro Town Hall and the Windsor Town Hall had been programmed into the truck’s GPS system. When the police checked the buildings, they found that both had been burglarized.
The police also reported finding items from the Hillsboro Town Hall in the truck, Roarick said, including “a fair amount of money,” digital cameras and printer cartridges.
