Parents meeting
LEWISTON – A foster and adoptive parent informational meeting will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, at the Department of Health and Human Services, 200 Main St.
For more information, contact Lorraine Belanger at 795-4629. Foster parents and adoptive parent for children of all ages are needed. There is no attendance fee, but people are asked to call ahead to confirm attendance.
Participants will be admitted through the rear door of the building adjacent to the large parking lot. The meetings are held each month, so people can call for future meeting dates/details.
‘Bug Maine-ia’
AUGUSTA – The Maine State Museum will host the fifth annual statewide celebration of bugs, “Bug Maine-ia!,” from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19.
Entomologists, environmental educators, forensic scientists, foresters, anglers, artists and others will explore the wonders and importance of bugs. Admission will be free all day.

Survivors brunch
NEW GLOUCESTER – The Cancer Community Center will host a brunch from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, at Pineland Farms for Live2Thrive, a networking group for young adult cancer survivors.
Those attending will meet other young adult cancer survivors, get a list of upcoming planned activities, make connections and find support. There is no charge for the brunch, and family and friends are welcome. Call 774-2200 or visit www.CancerCommunityCenter.org by Sept. 20 to register.

Support forum
AUGUSTA – The Brain Injury Association of Maine will present a support group forum Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Maine Principals’ Association office. The program is designed for those interested in starting a support group for brain injury survivors or caregivers, offering on-going support for current facilitators, as well as exploring existing technology as a means of providing alternative support group options.
The Brain Injury Association provides resource information, education and support to those affected by brain injury. It also offers brain injury prevention workshops for professionals and children while supplying properly fitted helmets to school-age children.

Arts conference
ROCKPORT – A statewide conference, “At the Creative Center: The Arts in Maine Schools,” will take place Friday and Saturday, Oct. 5 and 6, at the Samoset Resort.
The conference will convene arts administrators, arts educators and classroom educators from around the state, providing workshops, keynote speeches, vendors, entertainment and opportunities to network with fellow educators who are passionate about the arts.
