Society program
DIXFIELD – The Dixfield Historical Society will hold its first meeting of the fall at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, in the charter meeting room, 63 Main St. The annual business meeting will be held followed by a presentation of the Dixfield Trask family by descendants Karen Root Grimm and Jane Cantrell from New York and Georgia.
Members are asked to bring in their 50/50 raffle tickets, as the prize will be awarded that evening. The meeting is open to the public and light refreshments will be served.

Cemetery meeting
HARTFORD – The Hartford Maple Grove Cemetery Association will meet at the Union School on Church Street at 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 16. Anyone who has a cemetery lot or takes care of a family lot is encouraged to attend.
The Hartford Historical and Improvement Society will meet immediately after the cemetery meeting. Anyone living or has ever lived in Hartford is encouraged to attend and bring a picnic lunch.
Film to be aired
RUMFORD – Friends of the Rumford Library will offer the 1946 Alfred Hitchcock classic, “Notorious,” at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, in Rumford Library’s downstairs public room. Part of the National Film Registry, “Notorious” has earned high acclaim in movie history.
Ingrid Bergman and Cary Grant play American agents trying to infiltrate a group of Nazi spies. The film and refreshments will be free to the public. Run time is 102 minutes.

Networking meet
RUMFORD – The River Valley Healthy Communities Coalition will start its monthly networking meetings at noon beginning Wednesday, Sept. 26, at the Rumford Public Library. The speaker will be a representative from the Western Maine Holistic Health Council and will speak about the group’s programs and activities.
Other agenda items will include community updates from the Healthy Communities as well as from other River Valley organizations. Those attending should bring their own lunch. For more information, contact Patty Duguay at 364-7408.
Work session
RUMFORD – The East Ellis Cemetery Association will hold a work session to paint the south side section of the cemetery fence, located on the Andover Road, at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15. Anyone willing to lend a hand is welcome; those unable to attend are encouraged to scrape off old paint anytime prior to Sept. 15. For more information, call 364-4883.

RUMFORD – There will not be an auxiliary meeting for Rumford Unit 24 in September. The next regular meeting will be Sunday, Oct. 7, at the post home on Congress Street.
Winter hours
ANDOVER – The Andover Public Library is changing back to winter hours beginning Tuesday, Sept. 11. The hours will be Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday from 1 to 4:30 p.m., and Thursday from 1 to 4:30 and 6 to 8 p.m.
