WATERVILLE – Beulah Bruce Ayotte, 91, of Waterville, a native of Strong, died Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Maine General Hospital, Thayer Unit.
She was born April 26, 1916, in Strong, the daughter of Dana Newell and Cora (Luce) Newell Smith Harriman. She received her education in Strong schools and graduated from Strong High School in 1936.
In 1939, she married Kenneth Bruce. They traveled because of his work in the construction business and had lived in a variety of places such as Vermont, New Hampshire and Millinocket. He predeceased her and in 1986, she married George Ayotte. She was a member of the Pleasant Street United Methodist Church, Waterville, and had been a member of the Merryweds Group of the church. Her favorite hobby was reading.
She is survived by a daughter, Claire Chayer, and her husband, Ronald, of Sidney; grandsons, Steven K. Chayer, and his wife, Tricia, of Weeks Mills and David C. Chayer, and his wife, Olivia, of York; great-granddaughters, Hope A. and Stevie Cora Chayer of Weeks Mills; and great-grandsons, Brayton and Nathaniel Chayer of York.
She was predeceased by her parents; her stepfather, Harold Smith; husbands, Kenneth Bruce in 1981 and George Ayotte in 1995; and a sister, Emma Newell Huff.
