LEWISTON – Hazel Littlefield, 82, of Intervale Road, New Gloucester, passed into the arms of God with her family by her side at Central Maine Medical Center, Sept. 6, after an auto accident on Aug. 28.

She was born June 18, 1925, in Arundel. She graduated from Kennebunk High School. Early on she worked for an auto dealership in Kennebunk as a secretary.

She married Keith Littlefield and they moved to New Gloucester in the early 1950s. She retired after more than 20 years working for the New Gloucester town office, where she enjoyed meeting, serving and visiting with local townspeople. After retirement, she took a job with Palmer Development in Lewiston. She leaves behind many good friends and acquaintances.

She was an avid horsewoman in her younger years, raising and training three fillies. She shared her love of horses, Persian cats, nature and photography with her family and friends. Playing an important role in the lives of her family, she taught her nieces and nephews that hard work paid off.

After a day of mending fences, mucking stalls, washing windows and getting the hay in, she would reward them with a swim at Sabbathday Lake, a motorcycle ride (on her bike!!), a trip to the game farm, or a trail ride on horseback. It was a really special treat to be picked up at school in her red convertible.

She loved her family very much and spent as much time as possible with them. For birthdays, beautiful handmade cards would arrive in the mail with a couple of bucks from “Auntie.” Miss her already …
