PERU – Sophia Patricia Jacques, age 6, was crowned Miss Mini Maine 2007 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Freeport on Aug. 24. Sophia resides in Peru with her parents, Corey and Stephany Jacques, and her brother, Spencer Jacques. Her mom was Miss Maine in 1998.

Miss Mini Maine is directly affiliated with the Miss America Scholarship organization, which is the nation’s leading provider of scholarship assistance for young women.

The Mini Miss Maine program is geared toward developing communication skills, talents and academic accomplishments.

Sophia competed in talent, interview, sportswear and evening wear. She performed a ballet routine and modeled one of her latest golf outfits in the sportswear category. The final phase of competition was the onstage question asked as she modeled her formal wear, made specially for her by her Nini, Patricia Brown.

Sophia is a first-grade student at Peru Elementary School. She is a natural at playing golf and has taken dance lessons since she was 2. She loves being outdoors and playing with bugs and frogs.
