FARMINGTON – Karen Rogers, RN, MSN, has been appointed director of education at Franklin Community Health Network, according to Leah Binder, vice president.

In her new position, Rogers is responsible for spearheading effective educational strategies for employees, medical staff, students and patients.

She also oversees the Ben Franklin Center, the area’s state-of-the-art learning, conference and event center located at Franklin Memorial Hospital.

“I look forward to working with Karen to support her leadership in developing new programs,” said Binder.

Most recently, Rogers served as a faculty member and level coordinator for the freshman year for Central Maine Medical Center School of Nursing. Her responsibilities included organizing and facilitating the classes held locally via distance learning at the Ben Franklin Center.

Rogers has a broad array of experience teaching in clinical settings, as well as a record of accomplishment in the community. A resident of Fayette, she serves on the school board there, and earlier in her career she was Fayette’s school nurse, where she successfully developed creative programs in tobacco cessation, dental health and others.

Rogers received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Connecticut in Storrs and later attended the University of Pittsburgh where she received her master’s degree in adult medical-surgical nursing and clinical neuroscience nursing.

Rogers and her husband, Bill, an orthopedic and hand surgeon, have two grown sons, Kyle and Christopher, and a daughter, Brittany, who is a senior in high school.
