LISBON FALLS – Lisbon Rotary Club President Ruben Cornelius shared the club’s correspondence received during the week at a meeting on Aug. 28. Cornelius displayed a big thank-you card from the young readers who participated in the Lisbon Library summer reading program.
Students sent the card to the members of the Lisbon Rotary fellowship group for sponsoring the program this year. The card included a number of photos of literacy projects and events students experienced during the weeks they attended the program. A number of students sent along personal messages of thanks to the Lisbon Rotarians.
The card has been laminated and will start a traveling display in the libraries at Lisbon Community School, Philip W. Sugg Middle School and Lisbon High School.
“Lisbon Rotary proudly sponsors a number of school-related programs and is pleased its locally generated support made a difference in the summer reading program for Lisbon students,” said Cornelius.
The Rotary Club meets at 7 a.m. Tuesdays at Blake’s Grill. Members sponsor a number of events and welcome guests from the community to the meetings.
