LIVERMORE – The select board voted to give Transfer Station Supervisor Juanita Jordan-Bryant a 50-cent-an-hour raise Monday in lieu of a clothing allowance this year, the board’s Administrative Assistant Kurt Schaub said Tuesday.

That will bring Jordan-Bryant’s hourly wage up to $12.35.

Jordan-Bryant was willing to forgo the $250 winter clothing allowance in exchange for the 50-cent hourly increase in recognition of her additional certification, which is not required by the state but is expected to be soon, Schaub said.

The vote by the board was unanimous, he said, but concerns were raised about mid-budget increases. Selectperson Brenda Merrill stressed that it was not a precedent for mid-budget wage adjustments because the budget has already been approved.

Jordan-Bryant approached the board previously asking about her increase in wages because of the course work she completed.

She received a certificate in May but somehow it did not make it to the town office until she requested another one to be sent this summer.

In another matter, the board, Schaub and representatives from Lovewell Logging and Excavation planned to meet Wednesday to decide the scope of work to be done on Israelson Road, which is in disrepair.

The Livermore company was one of three businesses that offered complete bid quotes for the project, located off Turkey Lane.

The board awarded the project to Lovewell for the low bid of $82,000 at their last meeting, Schaub said. The bids ranged to a high of $150,000 for the reconstruction of 1,835 feet of the road.

The board is hoping to do as much of the project as possible without paving to keep it near $50,000.

“We’re comfortable holding off on paving because it is a very low traffic road but it needs to be safe for school buses,” Schaub said.

The board also elected Selectperson John Wakefield to serve as representative on the proposed regional school union committee.
