LEWISTON – Emma C. Russell, 83, of Lisbon Falls died Wednesday, Sept. 12, at Central Maine Medical Center with her family by her side.

She was born in Presque Isle, April 15, 1924, the daughter to Perley and Mabel McEntee Cray. She attended Bowdoin schools and graduated from Brunswick High School in 1942. She was married to Herbert W. Russell on Sept. 8, 1948. He died April 20, 1982.

She was employed at the Romper Manufacturing in Brunswick. She later worked for Raytheon in Lewiston, and later at the Worumbo Mill in Lisbon Falls. She was a member of the Eastern Star and a 30-plus year member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Lisbon Falls.

She was an avid knitter. She also enjoyed gardening and took great pride in maintaining the many beautiful gardens that she had at her home. She was a den mother for Scout Pack 109 in the early 1960s. She enjoyed Christmas and took great pain and pride in decorating her home every Christmas season with her many beautiful decorations that she collected and treasured for years.

She is survived by her son, Robert J. Russell of Lewiston; a sister, Shirley Paterson of South Carolina; a cousin, Donald Cray, and his wife, Evelyn, of Freeport; her very dear childhood friend, Arlene Small of Lisbon Falls; and two nephews of South Carolina.

She was predeceased by her brother, Richard Bickford.
