STRATTON – The Dead River Area Historical Society has been given the opportunity to exhibit at the Farmington Fair from Sunday through Sunday, Sept. 16 to 23.

The historical society represents the towns of Eustis/Stratton, Coplin Plantation and the drowned villages of Dead River and Flagstaff, and memorabilia from these areas will be on exhibit.

Displays will include albums and the family tree exhibit of the Stevens family, the first settlers in Stratton, an album donated by Clarence Jones of the log drive, exhibits from Forster Manufacturing, farming and logging exhibits, sporting camps, toys from the children’s room and copies of albums from the Sam O. White exhibit.

Folks who live or lived in the Eustis, Stratton, Coplin, Dead River, Flagstaff area will be tending the museum.

On display in the museum in Stratton are artifacts, manuscripts and photographs that have been donated or loaned by townspeople and descendants of original families of the Dead River region.

Collections from 1850 on include old carpentry and logging tools, china, glass, church organ, furniture from native families, a complete schoolroom, a memorial room to the “lost” towns of Flagstaff and Dead River, the lineage of several native families and a host of memorabilia from native homesteads.
