AUBURN – Normand G. Boucher, 75, of Royal Oaks Drive in Auburn, died Sept. 13, at his home with family at his side.
He was born in Lewiston Dec. 27, 1931, a son of Antonio and Rosabelle Boucher. He was educated in local schools and remained a lifelong resident of this community.
On Sept. 18, 1965, he married the former Iris Triggs of England. He was a veteran of the military, having served his country in both the Army and the Marines, including three tours of duty during the Korean conflict from which he received various medals, including two Purple Hearts.
In his early years, Norm first worked for Lewiston Lumber, then sold toys and novelties for several years to local businesses. After that, he owned and operated a Lewiston-Auburn ice cream distributorship known as “Penguin Sales.” He later worked for a while as a driver for Sam’s Bakery until his retirement, during which he drove for FISC for a short time.
He was a member of the D.A.V., the American Legion and the VFW. Among his favorite enjoyments were golfing, bowling, playing cards and buying and scratching lottery tickets. He was also an avid and loyal Red Sox and Patriots fan. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be greatly missed.
He leaves his wife of 41 years, Iris Boucher of Auburn; two daughters, Pam Boucher and Tracy Boucher, both of Lewiston; a son, Peter Mercier, and wife, Karen, of Leeds; two grandchildren, Joshua Mercier, and wife, Becky, of Lewiston and Audra Mercier of Leeds; two sisters, Carmen Roberts, and husband, Armand, of Florida, and Lorraine Cote of Turner; a brother, Raymond Boucher, and wife, Hazel, of Turner; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, Robert Mercier; and a brother, Roger Boucher.
