PARIS – How will the new reality of limited petroleum supplies and climate change affect how local gardens and landscape?

The Oxford County Cooperative Extension is offering a five-part gardening series on Thursday evenings starting Sept. 27 that will look at some common petroleum-dependent products and discuss alternatives that demand less fossil-fuel and receive other input.

Those wishing can attend all or one of the classes. Cost per class is $5 or the entire series is $20. Preregister by calling the Oxford County Extension at 743-6329 or 1-800-287-1482. All classes are from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Extension Office in South Paris.

Topics will be: Sept. 27, “Soil Improvement Practices”; Oct. 4, “Watering Practices”; Oct. 11, “Lawn Maintenance Practices”; Oct. 18, “Plant Choices”; and Oct. 25, “Pest Management Practices.”
