LEWISTON – Walter Calvin Cox, 87, of 6 Town & Country Drive, Lisbon, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, at the Montello Manor.

He was born in Lewiston on Jan. 20, 1920, the son of Herbert and Mary Towle Cox. Educated in local schools, he was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy.

On Nov. 28, 1940, he was married to the former Doris M. Wagner. He was employed as a dyer at the Pepperell Mill for more than 30 years, and then went to work for the city of Lewiston’s Public Safety Department, retiring in 1984.

A member of St. Patrick’s parish, he is survived by his wife of 67 years, Doris; two sons, Michael, and wife, Teri, of Point Pleasant, N.J., and Stephen, and wife, Kathy, of Saco; two sisters, Patricia, and husband, Jean Luc Poulin, and Frances Boisvert, all of Lewiston; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
