AUBURN – Funeral services honoring the life of Harold S. Swain were held Wednesday at the Riverside Drive Baptist Church with the Rev. Brian Demers presiding. During the service words of remembrance were shared by Harold’s son-in-law, Greg Goss who also shared memories written by Harold’s daughters, Marjorie Santoro, Eunice Goss, and JoAnn Gallant. A poem was also read by Harold’s granddaughter, Bernie Smith. The song “Beyond the Sunset” was played and sung by Fred Barney at the conclusion of church services. After a procession to the Maine Veterans’ Cemetery in Augusta committal prayers were recited by the Rev. Demers. The U.S. Army Honor Detail played “Taps” and presented our country’s flag to Harold’s wife, Rowena in recognition of her husband’s service to his country during World War II. All were invited to a reception of fellowship at the Swain family residence in Auburn. Pallbearers were Neil Pierce, Randy Smith, Daniel Goss, Joshua Goss, Troy Boyd and Justin Brown.
