As a faithful reader of the Sun Journal each day, I was disappointed today, Sept. 11, to not see an article on the front page honoring those who lost their lives. What I did see was an article discussing the lessons about 9/11 in high school classrooms; important as this instruction is, it should not take a front seat to the actual reason we must always remember this date.

I did find a small article, well-written, later in the paper on page A7 which said to me this is old news, not important enough to be on the front page. I did not expect a full page remembrance, but I do feel that the article written should have included a mention of the solders that have been injured or lost their lives in our fight for freedom.

As a citizen of this community, as a veteran of the armed forces, I believe that the events of 9/11 have not only harmed this nation that terrible day, but have harmed us every day since, and will, until our solders return home and the conflict in Iraq has been settled.

I believe you owe the readers in the L-A area an apology for not having a front page article about 9/11 and its impact on our country and community. This was not old news, not a political statement, but respect for everyone 9/11 affected and did not deserve a back page article.
