Dear Sun Spots: You’ve helped me before. Does anyone have a rubber gasket for a six-quart Virro Matic pressure cooker? Please call me at 782-0223 and leave a message if there is no answer. Thank you. – No Name, No Town.

Dear Sun Spots: I have read your Sun Spots column for many years, and this is the first time that I’m asking for your help. I have a problem with my camera, it will not take the new film, as I had just finished taking some photos and had to change film.

My camera is an Olympas Accura View 120. I’m hoping there is some place in and around Lewiston/Auburn that could check the camera for me. I thank you in advance for your help and anyone else. I may be reached at 786-2305. – Bert, No Town.

Dear Sun Spots: This is in regard to the Sept. 7 column where a reader was wondering if shingles was contagious: Yes! Yes! Yes, it is. Look in the 2007 Nursing Drug book on page 1172, and it states that when applying the creams, etc., wear a finger cott to prevent infection to other patients. During the oozing period it can be transmitted.

Certain conditions help transfer, such as deficient immune system, etc. I had a spell several years ago that effected the eighth cranial nerve which can involve serious eye problems. Also my dermatologists said, “‘You cannot kill the darn thing.'” Tingling sensations occur over and over at various times among other things. I can attest to it being a terrible affliction. – Registered Nurse in Lewiston.
