CARTHAGE – Sons of Maxwell, one of Canada’s hottest bands, will take the stage Thursday, Sept. 20, at Skye Theatre Performing Arts Center. The brothers, who have an impressive discography and performance resume, including several industry awards and nominations, will perform at 7 p.m.

The two, Don and Dave Carroll, began singing together while attending university and began a full-time music career soon after graduation.

S.O.M has released several all-original albums and music videos and has toured across the country, in Europe and in Asia.

Promotion of their current project, “Sunday Morning,” won the siblings ECMA’s Country Album of the Year award in 2006. It is the eighth full-length commercial release for S.O.M.

The strength of the duo is built upon its diversity. Their musical performance is evocative and their onstage sibling interplay is warm, alluring and often hilarious. The brothers and their backup band deliver Dave’s powerful and thought-provoking lyrics in a blend of musical styles best described as pop/folk.

Dave’s songs are injected with a “coming home” sense of familiarity, yet are refreshingly unique. American country superstar Diamond Rio short listed Dave’s song “I’m Willing” for its current recording. This song was co-written in Nashville with Jon Vezner.

Tickets to the show hosted by New England Celtic Arts are $10 at the door. Call 562-4445 for reservations. Skye Theatre is at 2 Highland Drive off Winter Hill Road and U.S. Route 2. For more information, log on to www.necelticarts.com.
