After recently dining at a local restaurant, I paid by using a major credit card.

When I signed the slip, as required, I was dismayed to see my entire 16-digit credit card number was printed on it, while the customer copy only displayed the last four digits of the number. It would seem this places the customer at risk of having the number appropriated by someone with access to the business’ financial records.

Consumers are advised to only use the last four digits to identify the account when paying a credit card bill by check, so as a safety measure, this should be the practice for all other forms of payment.
