HAYWARD, Calif. – Irene Caron August, 82, formerly of Lewiston, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 14, at St. Rose Hospital in California. Her brother, Richard of Auburn, was at her side.

She was born in Lewiston, Aug. 4, 1925, the daughter of the late Joseph and Valeda Caron. She was educated in Lewiston schools and worked here locally prior to moving to California.

She worked at Steckino’s Restaurant and also at Bath Iron Works shipyard during World War II. She came from a large family and had many friends. She enjoyed playing Bingo and had many hobbies that kept her quite busy.

She is survived by two grandchildren, Michael and Allison Martin of Seattle, Wash.; three brothers, Leo, Richard and Robert Caron and one sister, Dorothy DeWitt, all of the Lewiston-Auburn area; and many nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

She was predeceased by her only son, Richard (Dickey) Martin, and three brothers, Eddie, Roger and Donald Caron, all of Lewiston; her sister, Georgette Terpak of California, died in 2006.
