CANTON – Irene Quimby, 88, a resident of North Turner, died Sunday, Sept. 16, at the Victorian Villa Nursing Home, where she had been a patient since August.
She was born on Oct. 14, 1918, in Livermore, the daughter of Harold and Valletta (Randall) Bryant and attended Canton High School.
On Feb. 1, 1941, she married Donald Quimby in Turner. He passed away on April 6, 2002. She worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a rural carrier in Turner, Leeds, Wayne and Winthrop for more than 20 years.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by four sons all of North Turner, Lester “Butch” Quimby, and his companion, Glenda Clark, Barry Quimby, and his wife, Pauline, Eric Quimby, and his companion, Mary Rose and Craig Quimby, and his wife, Sharon; three daughters, Donna Lee Dagneau of Kissimmee, Fla., Ilene Swett, and her husband, Linwood, of North Turner and Vicky Bourisk, and her husband, Toby, of Portland; and a sister, Helen Ware of North Turner.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Janet Hutchinson; and a grandson, Lester “Boofy” Quimby Jr.
