FARMINGTON – Planning Board members decided Monday to continue their review of new construction of the West Farmington pumping station following a walk on the property located off Wilton Road. The board will discuss it at their Oct. 15 meeting.
The walk was scheduled at the board’s last meeting when abutter Marvin Coolidge questioned property lines and an explanation of the project.
Coolidge, his wife, attorney and engineering consultant, along with the town’s engineering firm, Dirigo Engineering of Waterville attended the review, Steve Kaiser, Farmington’s code enforcement officer, said Tuesday.
Some technical details, utility easements and access road rights need to be worked on and plans modified, Kaiser said.
The project also went before selectmen last week when the board voted unanimously to proceed with an agreement with E.L. Vining & Son Inc. on acquisition of property for the West Farmington pump station and the installation of the pump station at the quoted price of $317,767.
The bid process was waived in accordance with town policy since a special circumstance exists and it’s in the town’s best interest to waive the process, said Town Manager Richard Davis in a prepared statement.
The pump, next to Temple Stream, is 35 years old and needs to be replaced, Davis previously said.
