BUCKFIELD – Citing personal obligations, Selectman Philip McAlister resigned from the board Tuesday night.

Chairman Skip Stanley said he appreciated McAlister’s work for the town and knew he had the town’s interest at heart.

McAlister thanked the people who showed faith to elect him.

Town Manager Glen Holmes gave the board three options in replacing McAlister. They voted to have an election Nov. 6, the same day the McAlister’s resignation takes effect.

Town Clerk Cindy Dunn said nomination papers will be available Oct. 13 and are due back on Oct. 23. At least 25 signatures are needed to put a name on the ballot.

The board voted to donate two Jersey Bog parcels to the Androscoggin Land Trust for long-term conservation and stewardship. The properties are 10 and 12 acres.

Rescue Chief Lisa Buck told selectmen the older ambulance would not pass inspection because a bumper needs replacing. After discussion over the actual need of a second ambulance, the board voted to have Holmes find the $1,604 to have the repairs made.

Holmes said he was asking department heads to give a report to the board semiannually.

Fire Chief Steve Campbell in his report said the department is doing a recruitment drive and has four new members since he took over as chief in June.

Selectmen accepted with regret the resignation of Stormi LaCroix from the Recreation Committee and appointed Diana Rowe to the position.
