AUGUSTA (AP) – A former White House political director for President Bill Clinton will be the keynote speaker at the Maine Democrats’ Jefferson-Jackson Dinner.

Craig Smith’s experience with political campaigns at the national level will be of interest to Maine Democrats with the upcoming 2008 elections, said John Knutson, chairman of the Maine Democratic Party.

As White House political director, Smith coordinated the political activities of Clinton and his wife.

He now works for a Washington government relations firm.

The Jefferson-Jackson Dinner will be held in Bangor on Sept 29.
