LEWISTON – Herbert H. Parker, 88, of 550 College St., passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Central Maine Medical Center.

He was born in Auburn, May 31, 1919, the son of George H. and Lucy Steele Craig Parker. He was educated in Auburn schools, graduating from Edward Little High School in 1937. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was married in July 1938 to Jeanette Brackett who predeceased him in June 2002.

He was employed for 17 years at H.P. Hood & Son, and was co-owner of a bowling alley in Rockland. He retired in 1983 from Bath Iron Works as a lead man in the electrical department.

He was a member of the Sabattus Community Baptist Church, Webster Lodge 164, AF & AM, Scottish Rite Lewiston-Auburn Valley and Maine Consistory Valley of Portland 32nd degree.

He was an avid Red Sox fan.

He is survived by a son, Jeffrey P. Parker, and wife, Ellen, of Bath; four grandchildren, Paige Bernier of Lewiston, Tiffany Caton of Litchfield, Bryan Finch of Charleston, S.C., and Candace Daugherty of Columbia, N.C.; a step-granddaughter, Karen Bailey of Bath; many great-grandchildren; and a brother, Eugene H. Parker of Port Charlotte, Fla.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Paula Finch in 1995.
