The first part of “The War: A Film by Ken Burns” will air Sunday at 8 p.m. The renowned filmmaker’s new documentary about World War II will be broadcast in seven installments over two weeks on MPBN.
The documentary, a total of 16 hours, recounts the war by talking to veterans and survivors of the conflict from four American cities and towns: Waterbury, Conn.; Mobile, Ala.; Sacramento, Calif.; and Luverne, Minn.
Broadcasts of “The War” will run for four consecutive nights – Sunday through Wednesday – and will return for the final three installments Sunday, Sept. 30, through Tuesday, Oct. 2. All episodes will begin at 8 p.m.
Beginning Wednesday, Oct. 3, the entire series will be repeated with one installment a week shown over seven weeks, airing Wednesdays at 9 p.m. The series will be rebroadcast with one part airing each Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. beginning Sunday, Oct. 7.
