SOUTH PARIS – Alice Read netted a pair of goals to lead Edward Little to a 2-0 victory over Oxford Hills in girls’ soccer action Wednesday. Both of Read’s goals came on free kicks within the first six minutes of play. Chelsey Montminy stepped into the goal in relief of Kirsten Prue, turning aside four shots to record the shutout.

Sam Rivers made a gallant effort in goal for the Vikings (2-5) once again, making nine saves.

St. Dom’s 5, NYA 4

AUBURN – Alex Landry picked up a through pass from Jessica Chamberlain and one-timed the ball to score the game-winning goal with 7:24 left, giving St. Dom’s the 5-4 win over North Yarmouth Academy in girls’ soccer on Wednesday.

Maggie Gamble, Sophie Goulet, and Ali Desjardins each scored for the Saints (3-4). Kate Eslinger scored off a penalty kick to tie the game before Landry’s game-winner. Erynne Landry was credited with three assists.

For NYA (5-2), Courtney Dumont registered three goals, while Katie Avery also scored.

Rangeley 3, GPC 1

RANGELEY – Allie Hammond tallied a pair of goals as Rangeley topped Greater Portland Christian Academy 2-0 in soccer action Wednesday afternoon. Devon Fay also scored for Rangeley.

The lone GPC goal was notched unassisted in the second half by Beth Green.

Maranacook 3, Oak Hill 1

READFIELD – Maren Pedersen netted an unassisted goal with 10 minutes left in regulation to lift Maranacook to a 3-1 victory over Oak Hill on Wednesday.

Alyssa Neptune and Katie Dore also tallied for the Black Bears (3-2-2) to complete the scoring. Eryn Neptune made 11 saves in net to post the win.

The Raiders (2-5) received a goal from Maggie O’Connell, while Maggie Sabine turned aside 19 shots between the posts.

Poland 2, Wells 1

POLAND – With 9:30 to go in the second half, Hillary Clark picked up the rebound after teammate Sophie Geelhoed’s shot ricocheted off the crossbar and knocked it in to give Poland the 2-1 win over Wells on Wednesday.

Courtney Gray helped get the Knights (3-3-1) on the board first after tipping in a ball that Jen Baril had blocked with her upper body. Wells (1-5) scored next with an unassisted goal by Lilly Colley.

Paige Piper stopped six shots for Poland, while Dee Bigliotta made 13 saves in the losing cause.

Hebron 1, Proctor 1

HEBRON – Hebron and Proctor battled to a 1-1 tie in girls’ soccer action Wednesday afternoon.

Claire Cummings scored for Hebron in the sixth minute of the first half, while Proctor’s Kaitlin Fifield tied the game at the 37 minute mark.

Shelly Bolduc made five saves for Hebron (0-0-1). Emily White and Linsley Truesdale combined to stop six shots for Proctor (0-0-1).

Fryeburg 1, G-NG 0

GRAY – Coreen Hennesey scored an unassisted goal in the first half as Fryeburg edged Gray-New Gloucester 1-0 in WMC girls’ soccer action Wednesday. Ellen Hand made nine saves in net for the Raiders to record the shutout.

Taylor Damon turned aside 10 shots between the posts for the Patriots (1-5).

Field hockey

Jay 2, Hall-Dale 1

JAY – Two minutes into overtime, Liz LeBlanc fired a shot from the top of the circle off a feed from Brie Biesaw to give Jay the 2-1 victory over Hall-Dale.

Jay (6-1) scored first with 5:54 left in the first half after Bryndi Richards fed a pass to Katie Nemi in front of the cage, allowing Nemi to poke the ball in. Hall-Dale tied the contest with 3:35 left in the match when Abby Crocker scored unassisted after picking up a rebound from the Jay goaltenders pads.

St. Dom’s 4, OOB 0

OLD ORCHARD BEACH – Mary Lewis scored all four goals as St. Dom’s blanked Old Orchard Beach, 4-0, in WMC field hockey action Wednesday.

Hilary Gove, Katie Landry, Amanda Mayette, Pressley Lawrence and Jen Cullen tallied assists, and Austyn Carolin stopped two shots in the cage for the Saints (5-0). Marina Vallee had 16 saves for OOB (1-5).

Winthrop 2, Mountain Valley 1

WINTHROP – Kelsey Ouellette scored her second goal with just two minutes left in regulation to lift Winthrop to a 2-1 victory over Mountain Valley in field hockey action Wednesday.

Stephanie Beadle tallied for the Falcons (2-5) to tie the game at 1-1 with five minutes remaining before Ouellette’s late rally. Emily Vickerson made seven saves in net for the Ramblers (5-2).

Jessica Nadeau turned aside seven shots between the posts for Mountain Valley.
