AUBURN – “Complementary Therapies” is the topic of a Central Maine Comprehensive Cancer Center wellness symposium for cancer patients and their loved ones scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 26.

The symposium will feature four special presentations focusing on different aspects of complementary therapies for those living with a cancer diagnosis.

The presentations will be offered in two sessions, so program participants will have the opportunity to choose the topics that best fit their individual needs.

Participants’ choices for session one are tai chi with Ian Gamble of the Full Circle Synergy School of Tai Chi Chuan in Portland or massage therapy with certified massage therapist Denise Morin of Connected Touch Inc. of Casco.

Session two will offer participants a choice between “Yoga for Caregivers” with yoga instructor Beth Tanner or reiki therapy with reiki massage therapist Martha Spruce of Hearts and Hands Inc. in Bath.

The symposium will be offered from 5:45 to 7:45 p.m. on Sept. 26 at the Hilton Garden Inn. The first session will begin at 6 p.m. and conclude at 6:45. The second session will begin at 7:10 p.m. A gourmet dessert buffet will be offered between sessions.

The symposium is being presented in recognition of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, but is open to all people living with any type of cancer and their caregivers.
