Plummer takes lead

YORK – Mark Plummer of Manchester, held a 2-shot lead after Wednesday’s play at the New England Senior Championship being staged at York Golf & Tennis Club. He fired a 2-under-par 68. Second after day 1 were Cliff Calvao of Green Hill GC, Mass., and Alan Bouchard, Woodlands. In third, 3 strokes behind, were Paul Nunez, Jr., Longmeadow CC, Mass., and Ronald Murray, Val Halla.

Plummer’s round Wednesday ws a feather in his cap as he is coming off an impressive 6-shot victory at the Maine Senior Amateur Championship last week.

The final round for the NE event was set for Thursday.
