PITTSFIELD – The Leavitt field hockey squad put up five goals in the second half to rout MCI 6-0 Thursday evening.
Heidi Swett put the Hornets (6-1) on the board in the first half, before Rachel Doiron’s tally sparked the big second frame. Courtney Erskine, KayAnna Beeckel, Emily Murphy and Kylie Vincent also found the net. Kristen Capen and Kelsey Riordan split time in net, but neither was credited with a save.
Kayla Michaud and Amber McGinnis handled netkeeping duties for MCI, turning aside 11 shots.
Cony 2, Oxford Hills 0
AUGUSTA – Kristen Felt and Kayla Belanger scored goals as Cony rolled to a 2-0 victory over Oxford Hills in KVAC field hockey action.
Felt’s goal put the Rams (5-1) on the board 20 minutes into the game, while Belanger converted a pass from Brittany Ford 15 minutes into the second half. Natalie Fetteau made five saves to preserve the shutout.
Veteran keeper Aleksys Pike turned aside six shots in net for the Vikings (3-2-1).
Mt. View 1, Oak Hill 0
WALES – Oak Hill put up a valient fight before dropping a 1-0 field hockey game to Mt. View.
Tessa Mayberry scored the game’s only goal at 21:17 of the first half on a feed by Brittney Bowden.
Goalie Brittany Wood kept the game close for Oak Hill (2-5) with 15 saves, including stopping three Mt. View breakaways. Lindsey Cronin had 21 saves for Mt. View (5-2).
Mt. Blue 4, EL 0
FARMINGTON – Johanna Laplant led a group of four players to score goals as Mt. Blue rolled over Edward Little 4-0 in a KVAC tilt Thursday.
Kyle Cyr, Michelle Oswald and Kaitlin Bullen also tallied for the Cougars (6-1). Amanda Deschenes needed only two saves to notch the shutout.
Kayla Cummings turned aside 16 shots in net for the Red Eddies (3-4-1).
Soccer
Bangor 1, Mt. Blue 0
FARMINGTON – Kim Jordan scored the game’s lone goal with 14:01 left in the second half to give Bangor a 1-0 triumph over Mt. Blue in a key KVAC girls’ soccer clash.
The best scoring chance for the Cougars (5-2) came in the second half when Kelly Yardley’s full volley off a cross was perfectly played by Bangor goalie Kortnie Hudgens.
Hudgens finished with 11 saves for the Rams (5-2), while Mt. Blue’s Em Dean turned aside eight shots.
Mt. Abram 3, Carrabec 1
SALEM – Rebecca London, Emma James and Morgan Cummings scored to lead Mt. Abram to a 3-1 victory over Carrabec.
Mt. Abram (3-2-1) outshot Carrabec 18-3 and enjoyed an 11-0 edge in corner kicks.
Kara Hebert scored the lone goal for the Cobras (1-3-3)
Kenni Norton made two saves for Mt. Abram, while McKenzie Weese had 10 stops for Carrabec.
