NORWAY – The Oxford Hills Area Clergy Association gathered for its first meeting of the year at Christ Church on Sept. 13.

For many decades now, the association has met monthly at one member church or another to pray together, to exchange information about their congregations and to reflect on the intersection of faith and the issues and events affecting area communities and the world.

The group also plans and hosts annual events, such as the Good Friday Cross Walk, Lenten lunches/homilies and a community Thanksgiving service, and special events as needs arise.

Part of the work also involves giving emergency help to those who most need it in the towns of the Oxford Hills, done through discretionary funds of the individual churches as well as the association’s fund.

At the present time, the fund of the clergy group is low. It relies on the Thanksgiving service offering and other donations to replenish the fund and it appeals at this time to any in the community who feel moved to contribute.

For more information about the group, contact the president, the Rev. Anne Stanley, at 743-6782, 35 Paris St., Norway, ME 04268. To contribute, send a check to the Oxford Hills Area Clergy Association Discretionary Fund, First Congregational Church, 17 East Main St., South Paris, ME 04281.
