SOUTH PARIS – Philip Eugene Daniels, 70, of Waterford, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, at the Maine Veterans’ Home with his loving family by his side.

Phil was born in South Paris on Feb. 28, 1937, to Edmund J. and Pauline L. (Hanna) Daniels.

He married the former Sheila Durgin on Nov. 26, 1976.

He had worked for Axton Cross, AC Lawrence Leather Co., Mechanic Falls Paper Mill, Schaivi’s Enterprises, and he owned and operated Norway Laundry and Dry Cleaning. He had also had a snowmobile dealership in the Oxford area. He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Air Force.

He was involved with the Boy Scouts, serving as scout master, the Oxford Fire Department, American Legion Post 112 of Oxford, Norway-Paris Kiwanis Club, served as an organizer and president of the Andy-Oxy Youth League in Oxford, and belonged to the Quarter Horse Association.

In 1981, he moved to Zephyrhills, Fla., and began working for Saddlebrook Golf and Tennis Resort Inc. as a building maintenance manager for 18 years. While in Florida, he was the recipient of the manager of the year award at the Saddlebrook Golf and Tennis Resort, and while there he joined the Moose Lodge and American Legion in Zephyrhills, Fla. He then moved back to Maine in 1999.

He is survived by his wife, Sheila (Durgin) Daniels of Waterford; a son, Danny Daniels, and his wife, Krista, of West Paris; a daughter, Kathy, and her husband, Richard Estes, of Sumner; a brother, Paul D. Daniels, and his wife, Dorethea, of Jefferson; three granddaughters, Janice Daniels, and husband, Josh, Heather Brown, and partner, Jason, and Kylie Daniels, and partner, Norman; one grandson, (Rick) Richard Estes; six great-grandchildren, Cody Akers, Madison (Mattie) Akers, Alexsander Wormwood, Sydney Crocker, Hanna Crocker and Amelia Estes.

He was predeceased by his parents in 1988.
