‘Welcome’ banners up in Livermore Falls

LIVERMORE FALLS – Members of the Livermore Falls Downtown Betterment Group, Jay-Livermore-Livermore Falls Chamber of Commerce, Livermore Falls fire and town employees were on hand recently to install the new “welcome” banners for the town and the banners for the Apple Pumpkin Festival.

Last month the Betterment Group ordered 15 banners, printed on marine grade acrylic canvas, along with heavy duty mounting brackets. Most of the funding ($2,500) for the banners came as a result of Livermore Falls taking part in the “Square One” pilot program of the Maine Downtown Center.

The “welcome” banners feature the town tower clock in white on a dark green background. The chamber also purchased six full-color banners advertising the Apple Pumpkin Festival, which will use the same brackets. Both designs were donated by Betterment Group President Phil Poirier

The chamber sponsors the Apple Pumpkin Festival, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29.

There will be crafters, artisans and musicians from all over the state. There will also be a tiger slide, bounce house, face painting, local fire equipment and interactive games. The Ways of the Woods exhibit will also be on display. It is a mobile museum about the culture and heritage of the Northern Forest.

Proceeds from the festival are used to expand attractions for the following year and to continue the scholarship fund for high school students heading off to college.

The Livermore Falls Downtown Betterment Group has had a busy year with community clean-up in Union Park, creation of a new Gateway Park and continuation of the success of History Night held in May.
