LEWISTON – Adelard A. Gagne, 90, died Thursday, Sept. 20, at Ste. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion after a long illness.

He was born in Monmouth on May 18, 1917, a son of Emile and Albertine Dehetre Gagne. He was the youngest of six siblings. He was educated in Lewiston schools. On July 10, 1942, he was married to Jeannette Sirois of Madawaska. She predeceased him in 1982. They were members of Holy Family parish in Lewiston,

He was a member of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul parish and was a carpenter by trade and a member of local carpenters union 407 for many years.

He was owner and operator of Gagne Camps on Cobbosee Lake in Monmouth. In his younger years, he was an avid hockey fan and always enjoyed the outdoors, traveling and dining out. He also enjoyed the companionship of his cat, Minett.

Survivors include his wife, the former Jeanne (Plourde) Cloutier of Auburn, whom he married Nov. 11, 1983; a daughter, Claire J. Boucher, and husband, Ronald, of Lisbon; four stepdaughters and spouses, Raymond and Carmen Belleville of Arrowsic, John and Diane Farrand of Lewiston, Ronald and Pauline Guimond of Sabattus and Marvin and Rolande Dalos of Ariz.; two stepsons, Normand Cloutier of Lewiston and Richard and his wife, Susan Cloutier, of Lewiston; two granddaughters, Christina Pinard, and husband, Mark, of Lewiston and Nicole D. Evringham and husband, Brian, of New Jersey; four great-grandchildren, Christopher M. and Chantelle M. Pinard and Alyssa N. and Emily M. Evringham; 16 step-grandchildren; and 19 step-great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by two stepsons; two brothers; and three sisters.

The family would like to express special thanks and appreciation to the staff at Ste. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion and Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for the wonderful care that he received.
