RUMFORD – Ellen H. “Sally” Gallant, 83, of Howard Street, Mexico, died Friday, Sept. 21, at the Rumford Hospital.

She was born in Frye, on April 28, 1924, a daughter of Thomas and Thelma (Philbrick) Hickey, and had attended schools in Frye and Mexico.

She was a communicant of St. Theresa Church. She enjoyed playing cribbage and loved her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was married in Mexico, on Oct. 18, 1941, to Norbert S. “Norbie” Gallant of Mexico, who survives.

Other survivors include sons, Timothy Gallant, and wife, Malinda, of Weld and Gregory Gallant, and wife, Cheryl, of Rumford; sister, Noreen Fernands of Searsport; brothers, Laurin Hickey, and wife, Joan, of Lincolnville and Lawrence “Joe” Hickey, and wife, Mary Ann, of Gahanna, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Wendy Miller; sister, Lenora DiPierro; and brother, Thomas Hickey.
