Issue: There have been instances that the water department has cut into streets to do work soon after roads have been repaved. The most recent occurrence on Oak Street was when the water department cut the pavement three weeks after it was paved without the knowledge of the public works department.

Scoop: Brooks said the water department has been asked to coordinate work on streets that it needs to do with the public works department in the future. It was also agreed that the water department will pay a $200 annual fee for excavation cuts.

Camera problem

Scoop: A malfunction with the meeting room video camera recording system that resulted in no broadcast of the Sept. 4 meeting is expected to be resolved by the October meeting. New equipment will be operational then.

Board appointments

Appointments: Voter registration appeals board: Kevin Kimball, Garrett Mason, Katherine Dunn. Alternates, Layne Curtis and Julia Wilson. Alternates appointed as regular members to the conservation commission: Jessica Ireton-Hewitt term to expire in 2010 and Ross Cunningham term to expire in 2010. Councilor Janet Henry was appointed as a voting rep for the Maine Municipal Business meeting on Oct. 4.
