Dear Sun Spots: The Lewiston High School Class of 1963 is planning a 45th reunion.

We are in need of the names and addresses of anyone who graduated in 1963. If you graduated then or know of someone who did please send the information via e-mail to [email protected] or via phone to either Connie Beliveau at 353-7403 or Nancy Burgess Doyon at 946-5089. – No Name, No Town.

Dear Sun Spots: Our businesses, Prehung Doors & Ro-Mar Cabinetmakers, are located at 353 Riverside Drive in Auburn across from Gagne Concrete. We would be greatly interested in learning the history of this building.

I believe it used to house Stern’s slaughterhouse/meat-packing. Any history, photographs, etc., that can be obtained would be very helpful to us. I can be reached at the above address or by phone at 786-3317 or via e-mail at [email protected]. – Roland Martin, Auburn.

In addition to responses from readers, Sun Spots wonders if you’ve checked in with Michael Lord at the Androscoggin Historical Society to see if he might be able to assist you. You can reach him at 784-0586, Wednesday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. (4 p.m. Fridays).

Dear Sun Spots: A while back someone was looking for yarn at a very low price that they could buy. They make hats and mittens for the children for Christmas. I still have about 200 skeins left. If someone is still looking for some, please call 212-3588. Thanks. – No Name, No Town.

Dear Sun Spots: I am looking for material to use to make my fabric flowers with. I am seeking baby prints and country scraps. If you can help, please call the Button Lady at 782-4767. Thank you. And thank you to all who called me with buttons. I’ve had great results. – Button Lady, No Town.

Dear Sun Spots: I have a collection of Harlequin romance novels with the white background covers. If anyone would be interested in trading your old editions, published in the early 1970s, book numbers 1 through 300, for my new editions numbered 900 and up, please call me at work at 946-3669 and ask for Diane. – Diane in Greene.

Dear Sun Spots: In 1927, all the family would get on the Intersurban car at Auburn and head for Portland, then go to Old Orchard Beach on the open trolley car and rent a big, old cottage.

We were on the beach when someone said Charles Lindbergh had landed on the beach up above. We all ran up to the sand, and there he was beside his plane. Try running on sand when you are only 3 years old! He was barnstorming (a popular form of entertainment in the 1920s in which stunt pilots would perform tricks with airplanes, often in groups as a flying circus) around the country after his flight to Paris. Two Irish girls, Jerry and Pat, were there from Boston. – Alice Unnold, No Town.

Answer:
How exciting, Alice!! Sounds like some fun memories, and thanks for sharing them with us all. It’s nice to have that personal connection to historical occasions.
