HARTFORD, Conn. – Laurier M. Berube, 78, of 25 Lorraine St., Hartford, Conn., and formerly of Lewiston, died Friday, Sept. 21, at the Chelsea Place Health Care Center.

He was born in Lewiston on Jan. 12, 1929, the son of Joseph E. and Rose A. Cote Berube. Educated in local schools, he worked in the weaving room at the Bates Mill for several years prior to moving to Connecticut, where he was employed as an assembler by the Singer Sewing Machine Co.

A former parishioner of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, he is survived by a son, Raymond of Manchester, Conn.; four daughters, Rita Stevenson of Manchester, Conn., Linda Darcy of Johnson, Vt., Laura Whaley of Manchester, Conn., and Lisa Berube of Hebron, Conn.; two brothers, Bertrand and wife, Therese, of Lewiston and Normand and wife, Jeannine, of Lewiston; and a sister, Laurianne Roderick of Lewiston.
