FARMINGTON – Western Mountain Alliance seeks nominations of two area organizations for awards to be presented at the alliance’s 20th anniversary celebration to be held Nov. 1 in Kingfield.
WMA has previously recognized the work of organizations that are making positive strides toward economic sustainability and the preservation of rural heritage and natural resources with the King Cummings Leadership Award, given on a biennial basis since 1997.
On this 20th anniversary, WMA will also award the new Jane deFrees Youth Rural Leaders Award to a youth-led social action group that has made a significant contribution to Western Maine’s future.
The awards committee will select two recipients to each receive a $500 award. Written nominations from the public are welcome. Nominations are due Oct. 1.
