LEWISTON – Amie Huston died Sept. 24, at Central Maine Medical Center. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
She was born Aug. 1, 1927, in Quorn, Leicestershire, England, the daughter of Leonard and Constance Sykes. She was educated in the English school system and when she was 18 years old came to America as the bride of George Huston of South Portland.
He was stationed in her home town as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division during World War II. They were happily married for 58 years and lived most of that time in Westbrook and were faithful members of the Westbrook First Baptist Church.
They owned and operated the Huston Tourist Home for many years. When they retired, she and George moved to Auburn to enjoy and be involved in the lives of their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They became faithful members of Court Street Baptist Church and were very involved in many church activities.
She leaves behind a son, Glenn Huston of South Portland; a daughter, Janice Lowell and her husband, Roger, of Auburn; grandchildren, Kristin Chicoine, Ryan Lowell, Todd Gagne and Nick and Kelly Huston; great-grandchildren, Alex, Ben and Molly Chicoine, Ellie and Luke Gagne, Josh Deakin and Emma Lowell; also her brothers, Vic, Maurice and Bill of Quorn, Leicestershire, England.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, George; and her parents.
