PORTLAND – Irene T. Marston, 79, of Peru, died Monday, Sept. 24, at Maine Medical Center with her family by her side.

She was born July 16, 1928, in Rangeley, the daughter of Edwin and Bertrice (Searles) Taylor. She received her education in local schools and in 1946 married Edgar Marston at the Rangeley Baptist Church.

On June 8, 1951, she and her husband moved to Peru, where they made their home. She was a devoted wife and mother, who also was employed for 22 years as a nurse’s aide at Rumford Community Hospital. She enjoyed raising her family and spending time with her grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, fishing and bird-watching.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Edgar, of Peru; two sons, Joseph and his companion, Laura Woods, of Wilton and Bruce and his wife, Susie, of Auburn; six grandchildren, Ed Marston, Dorothy Marston and her fiancé, Douglass Kinchen, Peter Marston, Isaac Marston, Tom Marston and Elsie Marston.

She was predeceased by her siblings, Joseph Taylor, Truman Taylor and Salome Chandler.
