NORWAY – Ruth Brown Salo, 78, of South Paris, died Monday, Sept. 24, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Hebron on Aug. 8, 1929, the daughter of Winford F. and Alice Margaret Bumpus Brown. She graduated from Norway High School and had done secretarial and bookkeeping work for a number of years.
She married Robert M. Salo on Sept. 30, 1956. She was a homemaker and a wonderful mother. She was a member of the Hebron Historical Society and the Hebron Community Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and genealogy.
She is survived by a son, Stephen R. Salo of South Paris; a daughter, Janice M. MacDonald and her husband, Kenneth, of Murrells Inlet, S.C.; a stepdaughter, Patricia M. Cummings of Oxford; a sister, Joyce Adell and her husband, Wendelm of Readfield; grandchildren, Robert S. Salo of West Paris, Andrew M. Salo of Norway, Lynleigh Hebert of Murrells Inlet, S.C., Chelsi Hebert of Portsmouth, N.H., and Laura E. Issa and her husband, Jasen, of Wauseon, Ohio; a great-granddaughter, Isobel Issa; two nephews, David Adell of Gray and Douglas Adell and his wife, Susan, of Lewiston; several step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Robert on April 3, 1999; a daughter, Sharon E. Strout on Dec. 5, 1980; a brother, Earle W. Brown; and a niece, Marcia A. Toto.
