LEWISTON – Anna Davis Stone, 87, died Sept. 26, at St. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born Oct. 7, 1919, in Dover-Foxcroft, the daughter of A. Emmons and Louise (Sanford) Davis. She graduated from Foxcroft Academy in 1937.

She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Dover-Foxcroft. She was an avid bridge and duplicate player and was a founding member of the Mid Maine Duplicate Bridge Club. She was a charter member of the Junior Cosmopolitan Club and a member for many years.

She was tireless in her efforts to participate and support activities in which her three children were involved. These included making costumes and doing makeup for many school and community theater performances, being a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader and participating in many school and community fund-raising.

Her lifelong dream was having all her children graduate from college, a dream that came true. Also, she held many jobs in the business community ending with 10-plus years as office manager for a local dentist.

Survivors include her daughter, Nancy S. Page and her husband, Richard, of Zephyrhills, Fla., and Sebec Lake; her son, John G. Stone and his wife, Anita, of Lewiston; two grandchildren, Leanne Turton and her husband, Greg, of Tampa, Fla., and Robert Page and his wife, Deborah, of Portland; and four great-grandchildren, Zachary and Sydney Turton and Molly and Carter Page.

She was predeceased by her husband, A. Garfield Stone in 2000; a son, Richard D. Stone in 1992; and an uncle, George Sanford in 1997.
