LIVERMORE – The select board set a special town meeting in late October for voters to consider adopting a dangerous dog ordinance.

The town meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, at Brettuns Community Building. The proposed ordinance is stricter than the state’s, setting conditions that the owner of a court-declared dangerous dog needs $300,000 liability insurance to keep it, prohibits transfer of the animal and requires secure enclosures.

The proposal goes to a public hearing at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, at the community building.
