LEWISTON – The Parent Resource Center, a program of Advocates for Children, will offer “Active Parenting Now, ” a six-week workshop to help parents raise responsible children who are able to resist negative peer pressure.

The class is for parents with children ages 5 to 12. They will learn effective discipline techniques and encouragement skills. Topics will include styles of parenting, mutual respect, active communication, teaching responsibility, the four goals of behavior and family meetings.

The class will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, Oct. 4 to Nov. 8 at Advocates for Children. The fee of $16 includes a parent handbook. Registration is required. To register, call 783-3990. Child care is provided.
