Knitting guild

PARIS – The Western Maine Knitting Guild will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Oct. 2, at the First Congregational Church, 17 East Main St., Paris. A speaker is planned following the meeting. Anyone who is interested in knitting is welcome. For more information, call Midge Leighton at 743-7677.

GOP to meet

WOODSTOCK – The Woodstock Republican Committee will take up a few items of business at a meeting at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, in the conference room at the town office. All Republicans are invited. For more information, contact George Hooper at 665-2970.

Rummage sale

PARIS – The South Paris Universalist Church, 36 Pine St., will hold its annual fall rummage sale on Saturday, Oct. 6. The door will open at 9 a.m. at Good Cheer Hall for the sale of white elephant items and secondhand clothing, household items, toys, infant wear, books, tools and furniture. Winter coats, boots and sweaters will be available.

There will be linens, sheets, pillows and blankets available. The rummage sale will end at noon and a bag sale will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Large black plastic bags are sold for $1 each and the buyer can fill the bag free from items on the tables.

Harvest supper

STONEHAM – The Rev. George Frobig invites everyone to the annual harvest supper from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, at the Stoneham Congregational Church vestry.

The menu will feature corned beef and cabbage with homemade pies for dessert. Prices are $7 for adults and $3.50 for children under 12. The church is located on Main Street.

Regular worship services are being held at 10 a.m. at the Stoneham Congregational Church through October. Bible study is held at 9:15 a.m. Sundays before the regular worship service.

Bowling program

PARIS – The Paris Department of Parks and Recreation is presenting its winter bowling program. Children will be transported from Paris Elementary School to Hobb’s Lucky Lanes on Route 26 in Paris, after school on Thursdays beginning Oct. 11, for two strings of bowling, including shoe rentals.

Parents will be required to pick up their children from the bowling alley at 4:30 p.m. The cost for the eight-week program is $50. Stop by the Paris town office for a registration form and information is available on the bulletin board beside the recreation office. Weight loss talk

BRIDGTON – Bridgton Hospital will host the chief of bariatric surgery at Central Maine Medical Center, Dr. Jamie L. Loggins, for a free informational program about weight loss surgery on Tuesday, Oct. 16.

Loggins and members of the Central Maine Bariatrics professional staff will provide a general overview of obesity and weight loss surgery options. The program will include a question-and-answer session.

The program will be held in the clinic wing from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Special guest will be Nicole Cormier of Harrison, who has lost more than 180 pounds.

Show winner

PARIS – The Paris Department of Parks and Recreation hosted the Moore Art in the Park, art show and festival, recently. The winner of the sponsor’s choice award was Emmy Anderson of Poland.

Craft fair set

OTISFIELD – An Otisfield Community School craft fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3.
