NEW GLOUCESTER – The University of Maine Cooperative Extension will offer two workshops on growing pumpkins in October.
“Growing Giant Pumpkins” is a two-hour workshop designed for folks who want to grow “mega pumpkins” for fun or competition. It is planned for 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, at the Pineland Visitors Center.
Extension Educator Richard Brzozowski and a “mystery guest” will present the workshop. All registrants will receive giant pumpkin seeds for next year’s growing season. The fee is $15 a person, couple or family.
“Growing Pumpkins for Fun and Profit” is a two-session course planned for 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays, Oct. 4 and 18, at the Pineland Visitor’s Center. The course will be taught by Dr. Mark Hutton, Extension vegetable specialist.
The course is designed for people who want to grow pumpkins for sale. The fee is $55 a person or couples with the text or $25 a person or couple without the text.
