I am a teacher and, recently, I visited a Maine Department of Education Web site (www.maine.gov/education) to try and find information that might help me with a special education issue.
After trying many different links, none of which provided me with the information I was looking for, I did come away with a revelation. Gov. Baldacci and the Department of Education could probably save the state millions of dollars by consolidating their own departments. For example, on the DOE’s “Contact by Job Responsibility” link, I found over 200 different job titles. I did notice a few people whose names were listed more than once, signifying they had more than one job title. When I printed out that list, it was, literally, five pages long. Ironically, I still could not find a contact person listed for the issue I needed help with.
Perhaps I should try another link and sift through another 200 names.
Consolidation anyone?
