LEWISTON – Mariette B. Turgeon, 84, formerly of 71 Spring St., and Odd Fellows Home in Auburn, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Russell Park Rehabilitation and Living Center, with her loving and devoted family by her side.

She was born in Lewiston on July 4, 1923, the daughter of Francois Ovide and Clara Ferland Ruel. Educated in local schools, she worked at the Hill Mill and later Quinco Fabrics for several years and then went to work in the laundry of the Marshwood Nursing Home, retiring at the age of 65.

On May 11, 1946, she married Leo Turgeon, who passed away on May 23, 2001. She was a member of Holy Family parish, where she belonged to the Ladies of St. Anne. She enjoyed doing puzzles, playing cards, and especially making memories, but her family was always the source of her greatest pride and joy.

All of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren will always remember Memere’s cookies and all the love she had for all of them.

Survivors include two sons, Paul and wife, Barbara, of Turner and the Rev. Louis and wife, Marti, of Lisbon; three daughters, Suzanne and husband, Roger Gagnon, of Lewiston, Rachel Turgeon of Greene and Claire Gagnon of Greene; a sister, Rita and husband, Arthur Napert, of Bristol, Conn.; nine grandchildren, Melissa and husband, Bryan Lynch, of Sabattus, Randy Turgeon and wife, Keri, of Greene, Katie and husband, John Trenoweth, of Buckfield, Angel and husband, Jason Bennett, of Sabattus, Tammy and husband, Earle Allen, of Monmouth, James Turgeon and wife, Gerry, of Lewiston, Ashley and husband, Scott Doughty, of Malden, Mass., Rebekah and husband, Tom Rogers, of Lisbon and Andrew Turgeon of Lisbon; 10 great-grandchildren, Kylie, Cameron, Kaden, Brady, Autumn, Madison, Brandon, Miranda, Devin and Gwen; and two babies on the way.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff of Russell Park Rehabilitation Center, to Trudy, Theresa, Barbara and Betty of Androscoggin Hospice, Odd Fellows Home, and to Dr. Cynthia Desoi, and Dr. Trudy Chase for the love and care they have shown their mother.
